Aquaculture production planning software
AquaOS is aquaculture production planning software that holds the annual plan and the production record in the same system, so plan and actual are two views of one set of numbers rather than two spreadsheets that disagree. The forecast runs on the growth model the daily feeding plan already uses.
- Plan against actual from one record
- Harvest forecast by size band
- A reviewed month stops moving
What planning covers
The annual plan
Targets are set per period and per unit of the plan, and the year is laid out as a grid a manager can work across.
The plan lives beside the stock it describes, so opening it does not mean opening a second application.
Plan against actual
Attainment compares the plan to what the record holds, over any period.
Aggregates are sums, never the average of per-row ratios, which is the arithmetic that lets a workbook report attainment well above the truth without anyone noticing.
Survival per spawn
Survival is followed per spawn across the year.
Because survival is itself a ratio, the aggregate divides summed fish by summed systems and the per-spawn mean is reported beside it, so the difference between the two is visible rather than hidden by whichever one was chosen.
Harvest forecast by size band
The forecast walks every live cohort through the growth model and reports when stock reaches each size band, in fish and in kilograms, month by month.
Each month is read against the shipments already planned for that band, so a shortfall shows up while there is still time to act on it.
Capacity, before it is hit
The same walk reports when each system crosses its biomass capacity.
Running out of room is a scheduling problem months ahead of being a crisis on the day.
Months that lock once reviewed
Closing a period refuses every stock write whose business day falls inside it.
The refusal happens at the write, inside the same transaction, so a backdated mortality into a closed month fails outright rather than quietly changing a figure someone already signed off on.
What changes when the plan sits on the record
One set of numbers
The biomass behind the plan and the biomass on the pond report are the same figure, because they are drawn from the same record. They cannot drift apart between meetings.
A forecast someone can act on
Knowing which month a band comes ready, against what was promised, turns harvest scheduling and feed purchasing into decisions rather than reactions.
Reviewed figures stay reviewed
A closed month is closed. Reporting a quarter does not mean re-checking whether last quarter changed underneath it.

Frequently asked questions
Can AquaOS compare the annual plan to actual production?
Yes, over any period, because the plan and the production record are held in the same system. Attainment is computed from sums rather than by averaging per-row ratios, which is the arithmetic error that makes a spreadsheet report attainment well above what actually happened.
How far ahead does the harvest forecast run?
It walks every live cohort through the growth model month by month and reports when stock reaches each size band, in fish and kilograms, against the shipments planned for that band. It also reports when each system crosses its biomass capacity. The walk holds fish count constant, so it models growth of current cohorts rather than future stockings.
What does closing a month actually prevent?
Any stock write whose business day falls inside a closed month is refused at the point of writing, inside the same transaction, so nothing is recorded. Only an explicitly backdated entry can reach a lock; a write with no date lands on today. Closing is limited to months before the current one.
Is survival tracked per spawn or only per farm?
Per spawn across the year, with the farm-level aggregate reported alongside. The aggregate divides summed fish by summed systems, and the mean of the per-spawn figures is shown next to it, because the two answer different questions and the gap between them is worth seeing.
