Aquaculture feed cost software
AquaOS is aquaculture feed cost software that prices every fed kilogram against the feed lot it was drawn from, so feed conversion is reported in money as well as in mass. Feed is the largest variable cost on most operations, and it is usually the one measured last.
- Priced from the lot actually drawn
- Feed conversion in cost per kg gained
- The basis is stated on the figure
How AquaOS costs feed
Priced from the lot, not from an average
When the ledger records which feed lot a dispense came from, those kilograms are priced at that lot cost.
Kilograms no lot covers fall back to the feed item cost per kg. A farm that bought the same product at three prices across a cycle gets three prices in the record, not a blended one.
Feed conversion, in money
Alongside the mass ratio, the per-pond report carries feed cost per kg gained.
It is the number that answers whether a cycle paid, and it moves when purchase prices move even if the biological conversion did not.
The figure states what it was built from
Cost basis reads lot only when every fed kilogram of every product came from costed lots in a single currency.
A blend of lot and item pricing reports as item, and lots held in different currencies are never summed. A number you cannot interrogate is a number you cannot defend.
Cost follows what was actually fed
The costed quantity is the recorded actual where a manager entered one, and the planned ration otherwise.
A day recorded as not fed cost nothing and is held as a skipped ration, not as missing data.
Measured where the weighings allow it
Feed conversion is measured between two weighings when the period has them, using feed given over biomass gain adjusted for stock moved in and out and for mortality.
Between samplings the biomass is model-derived, and the report says so rather than presenting an estimate as a measurement.
See the reportsDemand priced before it is ordered
The feed forecast projects demand per product across the farm from current stock and the growth model, which is what sizes the next order.
Runway shows how many days of stock remain before it has to land.

A cycle can be judged while it is running
Cost per kg gained is available during the cycle, not reconstructed from invoices afterwards, so a drifting conversion is a decision rather than a post mortem.
Purchasing and production stop arguing
The same record holds what was bought, what it cost, and what it grew. Neither side is working from its own spreadsheet.
The number survives a challenge
Because the basis is stated and currencies are never mixed, a figure put in front of a lender, an owner or an auditor can be traced back to the lots that produced it.

Frequently asked questions
Does AquaOS calculate cost per kilogram of production?
It reports feed cost per kilogram of gain, priced from the feed lots actually drawn and falling back to item cost where no lot covers the quantity. The figure states whether it was built on lot cost or item cost. Feed is costed inside the platform rather than exported for costing elsewhere.
What happens when the same feed was bought at different prices?
Each dispense is priced at the cost of the lot it came from, so a cycle that ran across several purchases carries each of them. Kilograms that no lot covers are priced at the item cost per kg, and the report marks the basis as item rather than lot so the difference is visible.
How does AquaOS handle feed bought in more than one currency?
It does not sum them. Where a product has lots in different currencies, that product falls back to its item cost rather than producing a total that silently mixes currencies.
Is the feed conversion ratio measured or estimated?
Both, and the report distinguishes them. Over a period bounded by two weighings it is measured, from feed given over biomass gain adjusted for stock moved in and out and for mortality. Between weighings the biomass comes from the growth model and the figure is labelled as an estimate with its basis.
Does costing require connecting an accounting system?
No. Feed costing runs on the production record and the feed inventory the platform already holds. A REST API is available for pushing figures onward to a finance system, but it is not how the cost is produced.
